Jose Maria Bustos has lived and worked in Asia for the past eighteen years years. He has worked within the Visual Merchandising industry for over thirty years and has received top honors and awards for his design skills. He has a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) degrees from the San Francisco Art Institute and is a Rockefeller Fellow in Museum Studies and Education.

He began developing his Visual Merchandising skills as a junior curator at San Francisco's famous De Young Museum and then for companies like I.Magnin & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, Marshall Fields & CO. and Dayton's & Hudson's Department Stores. In Asia, he has worked as a Corporate Director of Visual Merchandising for C.K Tangs Department Stores from 1993-1998 and has provided his consultancy and designs to brands such as Adidas, Harley Davidson, BreadTalk, Les Amis, Luzerne etc.. He also shares his experiences through regular contribution of articles in VM to local and regional publications such as Retail Biz (India) and Retail Asia (Singapore). He also lectures and conducts workshops to students and executives on the subject of Global Visual Merchandising throughout the region. He has lived and travelled extensively throughout the globe, and has exhibited his own Works of Art in over thirty exhibitions both in Singapore and abroad.
